Tel Aviv has 14 kilometers of seashore with a Promenade (Ha'tayelet in Hebrew) that stretches from Hatzuk beach in the north all the way to Jaffa in the south. Opposite the Promenade you will find many of the city's finest hotels, interspersed with numerous restaurants and cafe's. Tel Aviv's restaurants and numerous cafe's are open until the wee hours. The gay beach is located just north of the Hilton Hotel.
In 2009 Tel Aviv celebrated its Centennial and in its honor June was designated as Gay Pride month, and culminated with the annual Gay Pride Parade. In 2008 the GLBT Community Center was established in Meir Park (off of King George Street), and it is a cultural hotbed.
In July, 2003, UNESCO, (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), designated the unique urban and historical fabric of Tel Aviv-Jaffa "The White City", as a World Cultural Heritage site, due to its many Bauhaus buildings.
